Our Special Purpose
Like Steve Martin in "The Jerk," our Men's Club has found our "Special Purpose."
It is to provide the men of Temple Israel with opportunities to build stronger relationships in a Jewish context. We have so much going on in our lives today that we don't often remember to take care of ourselves. Whether physically, intellectually, emotionally, or spiritually, we need to take time for ourselves so we can continue doing all we do for those important people in our lives.
Our Men's Club is a great group of guys who want to get together to have fun, make new friends, connect more deeply with old friends, and do good stuff for our community and the world around us. To achieve these goals in a Jewish context and feel the connection to thousands of years of our forefathers makes our purpose even more special.
So, how do we make the most of "Our Special Purpose?" Our club leadership plans and executes a wide variety of programs and events throughout the year. We have "Macro" events for everyone like the World Wide Wrap, Men's Club Shabbat, and others. We also have many "Micro" programs, designed for smaller groups of guys to get together for more casual, fun activities.
As part of the International Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs (FJMC), we are connected with clubs around the world that also have great groups of guys doing great things to help strengthen relationships. We give them our ideas (like the World Wide Wrap) and we use their programs (like the Yom HaShoah Yellow Candle program), regional retreat at Camp Ramah Darom, and so much more. You can see how active FJMC is here.
Do you have an idea for an activity? Do you want to join us? Send us your information and "Together we'll make it happen!"
